Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year...
Since I haven't found my favorite type of pumpkins yet,
I thought I would share a way of bringing the season into your home without using pumpkins.
I brought together my favorite french antiques.....
I displayed some pears in an antique compote.
I put a few apples in my antique french metal basket....
I was using it to display rolls of linen.
I like how the bright red apples look against the dark metal.
I usually display bottles on my french drying rack, I took those off and added these little terra cotta pots from France. I am a sucker for these little terra cotta pots.
If you are trying to add some fall colors to your home, but don't want to use pumpkins, these pots are an inexpensive way to bring in some fall colors to your home.
This little french farmhouse table, has an old french newspaper stuck to the top of it.
I was so excited when I found this table.
I wish I knew how to can....Then my canning jars wouldn't always be empty....
I am obsessed with lavender.
Do you have a favorite way to decorate for fall?
Do you like to use pumpkins in your fall decorating?
I hope you all have a great week.
Take Care,
Maria
Hi Maria, you arranged everything so beautiful again! I especially love this pot rack on the table!!!

Hey Maria,
ReplyDeleteI love your Autumn decorating!
Your lavender sprigs look pretty too, I have a bunch of lavender that my mum grew in her garden. It always gives me a smile just to see it laying there.
Over here in Australia, we are entering Spring, my favourite season. I am loving the new found blossoms & smells in the air & of course the sunny warm days.

ReplyDeletePerfection! I love it all. I think the apples in the wire basket is my favorite though. Gorgeous fall display!!
ReplyDeleteI love the way everyone on that side of the pond celebrates the seasons. Here, a lot of people moan that it is too windy, too cold, too hot. We could learn a lot from you!! I love your displays, I am going to celebrate along with you!!
ReplyDeleteHi Maria...no pumpkins...yet...but I like the white 'cinderella' - pears are in the kitchen, and squash from the garden is on my dining room table -
ReplyDeleteyou could so teach yourself how to can - but I wouldn't use those old jars :) they look to pretty sitting out like that...

ReplyDeleteHi Maria,
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful sights to wake up to. I am having my coffee and sitting here drooling over your photos of such wonderful vingettes.
I'm not crazy about fall colors or pumpkins so I really like how you used vintage pieces with the apples and clay pots.
hugs
Sissie
Dear Maria,
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful ways of bringing Autumn into your home. I love your little terracotta pots. I have quite a lot of little Victorian ones in the greenhouse and think that I shall bring them in to give a feel of this lovely season.
I love the Autumn too....actually, I love all of the seasons. They all have their merits, don't they ?
Fabulous inspiration and such easy ways to decorate, but done with your wonderful style amidst your beautiful possessions. XXXX
Tout à fait parfait!

Good Morning, Maria! Everything about this is just fabulous & says French Farmhouse~ sigh! :) I love your beautiful farmhouse table & the little terracotta pots are cute on the bottle drying rack. Your photography is SOO good~ I love all the bright light feel in your photos. So nice & fresh for early Autumn! Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

I would LOVE to start decorating for fall. But it's a little hard to do so here in the caribbean. It's still so very hot, and even though my heart yearns for the slightest change in the weather, my home will remain a little on the summery side for another couple of weeks. Something about the warm humid days holds me back from craving apples, pears and warm cozy interiors. it still says, sorbet and lemonade please!!!! I guess I'll just have to wait!!
ReplyDeletenatalia
Where do you find all of your French antiques? Is it mostly online or do you have favorite shops near you? Just curious!
ReplyDeleteElisabeth
Maria, I just love your sparse decor! the look is modern and at the same time country. It gives such an airy feeling. The color palette makes me feel peaceful. Regarding fall without pumpkins, I love pomegranates. Our friends have a tree, and I get them, let them dry, and put them in bowls. Check out my blog, and see. I'd like to meet you. I'm a dealer at Agoura Antique mart, and I'm always there on Tuesdays. Maria, Dustylu, and I merchandise the store on Tuesday nights, after closing, but I'm in my booth during the day. Hope to see you there.

Maria,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is Fall also. I love the crisp air and the opportunity to get my boots and sweaters back out. I often will decorate with gourdes and small pumpkins. However, I'm on a tight budget. If I splurge for a basket full of fresh gourdes, squash and pumpkins then I always recycle them for Christmas decorations. I use spray paint to color them. I've used metallic gold, silver and even white topped with iridescent colored glitters. The painted gourds along with some pine boughs and berries look beautiful. Depending on how you arrange your items, they can span styles from country all the way to modern design. Have fun in the fall! Susan
Gorgeous Maria! I am enjoying the lavender you sent me :) It smells amazing and is so soothing! :) THANK YOU AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm....makes me want apple pie!
ReplyDelete...Crisp like fall leaves and warm like their glowing colours...great table too! The jar is amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Maria, and what a wonderful way to welcome fall into your lovely home! I'm still on the hunt for pumpkins too, but I have put a few things out already!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Hi darling!
ReplyDeleteHow long... your innate taste and style is amazing! you are a very inspiration for all of us!

I was actually keeping my eye out for one of those drying rack things, but smaller. I think they are just perfect to display all your pretty cups on. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these beautiful photo's, and nice ideas!!!
I love the fall, we always go to the forest to search for pine cones, of which i paste a beautiful wreath.
Have a nice evening, from Holland,
Susan.
~*~So beautiful Maria! I love using lots of pinecones in my Fall decor too~*Twigs and branches..birds nests and I love orange roses~*~* ;)Rachel~*
ReplyDeleteA lovely site...common objects in great colors arranged in a very livable fashion. Looks fresh
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful vignette, Maria! I love the ways you added fall color to your home. The French drying rack looks beautiful with the vintage terra cotta pots on it... great idea! GORGEOUS!!

Lovely pictures! I usually host an Autumn inspired family dinner (feast)and using my China passed down, I love to display mini white pumpkins on each plate! Have a fabulous week, xoxoxoxo ~Ashley
ReplyDeleteHi Maria,
ReplyDeleteI always love, love, love your photos. I have one of my bottle racks outside with French pots hanging on them too (right outside our back door ;) I like the look of the canning jars filled with bits of gravel then a single flower floating on top.
Have a great week!

Hi Maria, everyday I have a look to your blog...and every time I ask myself how you can be so charming!!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely, so lovely!
Thanks for sharing!
Laura@RicevereconStile
Hi sweet Maria! You have a certain special way of putting soft colors together that just calm my soul, girl. The pale green chair, soft earthiness of the pots, red apples, dark metal, white table.....(sigh!). Just love it all. You prove that you can decorate without all the pumpkins and corn husks that are normally used. Love your way so much better! :) Hugs to you ~
ReplyDeletexoxo laurie@heavens-walk
happy fall-eve, maria!
ReplyDeleteyour photos are as lush and lovely as always. love the green chair beside anything and your autumn displays are as pretty as they are simple. thanks as always for sharing.

Thanks Maria GREAT ideas! I love the pear idea AND the terra cotta pots are so pretty and much paler than the bright orange pumpkins. Can't wait until the grey/green and white pumpkins are in season!
ReplyDeleteI always feel so calm visiting your fresh, clean world...it is so lovely. I love decorating with apples, too, btw. Makes my kids laugh when I tell them, "No! Don't eat those! We have company coming!"

I usually like to add bittersweet around the house - it's kinda naturally abundant around here in Connecticut. Love what you did without using pumpkins! If I do use pumpkins I put them on our front step and usually they are spray painted with chalk board paint with a message written on them or are the white pumpkins with bittersweet wrapped around their stems.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, love the little pots for a hint of fall color!
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding your pumkins.
Londen
the photos of your home always make me feel peaceful. so beautiful. pears and apples, such a simple concept but it looks beyond amazing.
ReplyDeleteI adore all your Fall touches, but those terra cotta pots are just fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh, and the sneak peek you gave me of the shop site? LOVE IT!
Have a wonderful week!
Hugs,
Anne
That green chair gets me every time!
ReplyDeletem ^..^
I love the simplicity of your Fall decor. The apples in the dark metal French basket is lovely. You have a wonderful sense of design and taste, Maria. I've decided that this Fall I am going to learn how to can fruits and jams. Growing up my this is something my Mother always did and I would love to carry on the tradition. Happy Fall, Maria!
ReplyDeleteI have apples and pears in a big wooden bowl; it's my only concession that it will soon be autumn. Love the simple splendor of your designs.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - those apples look amazing - what an inspired idea! I hadn't thought of particularly decorating for Autumn (or 'Fall' sorry - I'm from England!)however, you've inspired me to try a little Autumnal something! xx
ReplyDeleteMaria,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful family, beautiful blog and beautiful photos! Thank you for your kind words you left for my daughter Heather.
Hugs, Cathy
You know the Police' song that sing " every little thing she does is magic"... they sing about you!!! ^_^

You are always so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm officially jealous. I am dying for an antique french bottle dryer. I found one the other day at my local antique store, but the price was kinda steep. I may just have to put it on layaway. Was yours reasonable, or a splurge? Everything looks lovely as usual. I'm slowly collecting some of my favorite pumpkins and pulling out my fall goodies. Take Care, Carrie
ReplyDeletelove: your French EVERYTHING, your interpretation of Fall and your eye for putting it all together!
ReplyDeleteI'm so craving the pumpkins right now - especially the french peachy-orange ones, the white squashy ones and then those gray ones.....OK, fine - the orange ones will do, too ;)
Hope it is cool and fall-like up there like it is down here!
xoxo
