A Trundle Bed for the Boys, Freddie, Frenchies, & Mes Amis Vintage Antique Show

Hello,
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.
I had to share a few sneak peak pictures of a project my husband recently finished.

I had bought this reclaimed wood from Yasmine in January.
I knew exactly what I wanted Thad to make with it : )

A trundle bed for the boys....
I had recently discovered Jen Migonis blog, Migonis Home.
Jen has a beautiful home and blog that is full of inspiration.
My husband referred to Jen's West Elm Inspired Bed Frame post for making the frame for the mattress.

The boys are more then thrilled with their bed....

As well as the Frenchies....
I had to snap a few pictures of them in their new bed yesterday morning, as it was their first night sleeping in the new bed.
Their room smells of wood, which the boys love.
They told me they just loved the wood!
I thought my brothers would be proud of me, I didn't paint their frame white.

The frenchies and the boys were having a hard time getting out of bed!
I will share more pictures with you of their room and bed, along with a guest post from my husband, Thad.

I also had to share a few pictures of our Blue Fronted Amazon Parrot, Freddie.
Freddie recently got a new old cage that is from Belgium.....
We thought she would be scared of her new cage as she is scared of everything and is not very fond of the male gender.

To our surprise she loves it!

Bethany has recently taken up knitting....
Bethany knitted the collars for Lili and Adéle.
If you are interested in learning how to knit or have a child who wants to learn how to knit,
The Complete Beginner's Guide to Knitting is a great video to start with.
Bethany has learned a lot from watching this video.

A Favorite Pancake Recipe, Keeping The Table Simple, Spring

Hello,
I hope you are all having a great week!
I wanted to share my favorite pancake recipe with you....

It is adapted from my favorite breakfast cookbook
by Kate Habershon

1 Cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 1/2 TBL Sugar
1/2 teaspoons of salt
2 eggs, separated
3/4 cup of milk

Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks.
Mix egg yolks and milk together in a separate bowl.
Add the milk mixture to your dry ingredients, be sure and not over mix!
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
Fold egg whites into batter.
Make sure you don't over mix the egg whites into your batter.
Over mixing your pancake batter will cause your pancakes to be chewy : (
I like to butter the grill before cooking my first batch of pancakes.
We have a Breville grill that I love to make pancakes on....
I also quadruple the recipe for our family of seven.

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals to fix....
It is about the only meal I feel like I can actually do an okay job at making :)

Growing up, almost every Sunday we would come home from Church and my mom would fix all of us a big breakfast.... It is one of those childhood memories I will always cherish.

My mom taught me to keep my table settings simple....
The food my mother made is always what was showcased on the table....
Here I set the table with vintage ironstone, a mix of vintage silverware,  and my favorite glasses, canning jars.

I used whatever ironstone I had to hold food items and for the pancakes I used this antique English breadboard.  I haven't ever seen one like it before.
I bought it from one of my favorite French importers.
It will eventually be put in the shop. : )

I like to keep grain sack runners on the table....

I especially love this gray striped runner.
The material is a beautiful creamy white color.

I also wanted to share a few images of the yard, yesterday was such a beautiful spring day.
It had rained hard, and I thought it was so pretty outside after the rain stopped.
This is an image of the hydrangeas I planted in front of the house six or so years ago.
They will soon be blooming.

Here is a picture of the patio area.
We ate our Easter dinner on the patio, it was such a beautiful day.
I will get a better picture out here this summer.

I love english boxwood, I planted over a hundred boxwoods about six years ago.  They are finally starting to grow : )
This area I have planted and replanted so many times....
My husband finally took over and planted the tree roses and the carpet roses.

We used the zinc pitcher filled with lilacs for our Easter dinner as well.
Lilacs bring back all kinds of childhood memories....
I have one lilac bush that is growing well, the other bush, hasn't grown an inch in the past six years.
You can read a post I did about lilacs last spring here...

I had to share this series of pictures I shot of my kids yesterday....
This is a picture of Bethany, Rambo (our great dane mastiff mix), and Dustan....
My husband was driving the Kubota down in the lower pasture, everyone including Rambo was anxious to join Thad in the field....

Dustan took off...

As soon as Bethany let go of Rambo, he took off on a mad dash to catch up with Dustan (Rambo is the blurry blob in the middle of the picture), Bethany was yelling at Dustan to wait for her.... Which Dustan wasn't about to wait for his sister. :)
Kind of a blurry picture, but I still love it.

Hand Made using Vintage Linens.... Remnants of the Past Antique Show...

Hello,
I hope you are all enjoying your week....
I have some exciting news to share with you today....
I am honored to announce I will be a vendor at the Remants of the Past June Show.
The show is located at the Alex Madonna Expo Center in San Luis Obispo on the 2nd and 3rd of June....
Matthew Mead and Jo Packham will be special guest at the show...
Judy is also offering a generous giveaway....
2 night stay in SLO city lodging venue
$75 gas card
Free passes to the show for both Saturday and Sunday
$100 gift card to the exquisite restaurant, Novo
The giveaway began April first and ends on April 30.

We will be bringing lots of hand made items using vintage french linens and grain sacks to the show.....
I recently bought my sister an industrial machine so she can sew more handmade items using
vintage grain sacks....

This grain sack tote is one of our latest creations...
I will share more with you about our totes next week.
We will be bringing these to the show as well as listing them in our shop very soon.
I will also bring as much french farmhouse items as possible.
I just need to find the right french door for the top.
Not only do sawhorses make great legs for a table, but also make a unique tote stand....
I recently told my dad these sawhorses bring back fun memories of peeling logs with my brother and sister...... It is funny at the time I didn't think peeling logs was all that fun, and I am pretty sure I didn't have a thing for sawhorses at the time either.
You can read more posts on how I used sawhorses to create a one of a kind farm table  here and here.....

I have a few french vintage cupboards that I will bring as well....

This french ironstone pitcher that is filled with flowering cherry branches is one of my favorite finds from Remnants of the Past last year.

I hope to see you at the show in June.
I am really excited about this opportunity, however I am very nervous about it as well!

The kids and I will be dying Easter Eggs Saturday evening....
This will be the first year we didn't use dye tablets we will be making our own dye using fruits and vegetables.... You can read about our experiment here ....
It was so much fun the kids can't wait for Saturday.
