I wanted to share an amazing story with all of you....
I stumbled upon this blog, The Stylish House, in the middle of the night Sunday, while I was waiting for photos to upload into my blogger.
This is a picture of a beautiful young girl, named Heather.
Heather, sadly suffers from a disease called, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis.
Heather is in need of a liver transplant.
She needed to find a live donor, with type O blood type.
Cathy, Heather's mom, posted about her daughter's medical condition, on her blog, The Stylish House, and asked if other blogger's would spread the word about her daughter's medical condition.
After reading Cathy's post, another blogger's husband, courageously stepped forward to be Heather's donor.
Heather's donor was officially approved and Heather is set to have surgery November 15th. Cathy will be starting a caring bridge site to keep us all updated on Heather's condition.
I hope you get the chance to go over and visit Cathy, over at the Stylish House.
Please keep Heather and her family, along with her courageous donor in your thoughts and prayers.
I just wanted to make sure you all read a comment that Cathy, Heather's mom, left on this post....
Maria,
Thank you for sharing my daughter Heather’s story with your readers. Heather was the picture of health growing up so her illness was unexpected. Twenty five friends and family stepped forward to donate, but none had a compatible blood type so I used my blog to find a donor.
The word grateful doesn’t begin to cover how we feel about this wonderful man Robert and his wife Kayren who are helping us.
Transplants are life saving and if this can happen to our family it can happen to anyone. We never intended to go public with our story, but our wish is that it might get people thinking about organ donation. Thank you for your kindness, support and prayers!
Hugs, Cathy

ReplyDeleteHi Maria,
ReplyDeleteSo nice you're bringing attention to Cathy's blog and her sweet daughter's story of the need of an organ donor and the kind man that's stepped up to be that donor.
I have to add, I wish that every person in this country would remember to check off that box giving consent to be a donor themselves and place that little red dot on license and information cards.
Great post, Maria and so important!
xoxo~Tracie
This story is pure emotion.

This is just absolutely AMAZING! God does answer prayers and we will continue to pray!
ReplyDeleteMaria - You are lovely to post this. It's an emotional story for me as it hits home having gone through this with my brother-in-law. My husband is now on the national list to donate bone marrow. I will keep Heather and her family in my prayers and also Robert and his wife in my prayers. Robert is a wonderful man to step up and do this and obvioulsy has a lot of compassion for others. Bless him. It's a heartwarming story.
ReplyDeleteRObert is such acraing and courageous man to step forward like this. I will keep Heather and Robert in my prayers, as well as all the families. We will agree in prayer that all goes smoothly and both recover quickly!
ReplyDeleteGod bless such compassion!
Mimi
First of all, Maria - what a blessing you are in blogland. Just a total blessing, friend. To share Heather's story out here so that all of us can be her prayer warriors is just beautiful of you. Second, I will add Heather to my prayer list and lift her name up daily for a successful surgery and quick recovery. And third, God bless Robert for being a donor. What an amazing gift of life....

Beautiful Maria, you have led the way for many of us who are new to blogland to see how this marvellous medium can be used, not just for fabulous entertainment, but for so much good. I am in Australia but have just donated to this lovely lady's (www.jodyrlanders.com) request for vitamins. Such a simple thing, such a huge impact. Thank you again Maria for being a positive influence in this world. Kind regards ... Felicity
ReplyDeleteThat gave me goosebumps. Blogland rocks! I'm grateful too. as a mom I couldnt imagine what that would be like.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a touching story, so happy you shared it! Really is such a testament to what an effect your blog and your voice can have.
ReplyDeleteJust discovering your blog - it's beautiful! I share your addiction to soft dreamy shades of white
xo
Amazing story!
ReplyDeleteThe power of blogging is really something, isn't it?
Oh such a touching story. I have that blood type...I thought that was the most common donor type. Must have had a special rh factor or something. Thanks for sharing. I'll keep her in my prayers.
ReplyDeletewow, what an amazing story! will go read up on her blog for sure!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thanks for following my blog, you were one of the first blogs I followed when I started. I love yours! Secondly I was so happy for Cathy and her daughter to have found a donor. She was one of the first bloggers to give me advice on how to set up my blog, as I admired hers. She is a generous and lovely woman.
ReplyDeleteNever ceases to amaze me what kind hearted people will step up and do for a complete stranger. I wish I could be an organ donor. Unfortunately I too suffer from liver disease. I had leukemia when I was 7yrs old and when I had numerous blood transfusions I ended up contracting Hepatitis C. I found out when I was 19 and have battled with it since. I'm so happy when I see stories like this. I wish both Heather Robert the best of luck in the surgery.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this! I didn't know that a donor had stepped forward, how incredibly wonderful. I will keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteHi Maria,
ReplyDeleteI just sended you an email a few minutes ago. My daughter was ill this weekend so I couldn't find the time to sit behind my computer. Let me know if you got my email.
A big hug to you my friend,
Rozmeen
Dear Maria,
ReplyDeleteJust to say that I already knew of Heather's story. What a miracle to find a matching donor on her mother's blog.
I wish Heather and Robert well and for full recoveries after surgery. XXXX
I am so blessed (but not in the least surprised) to see that the blogging world is filled with such kind, caring folk...to you, for posting the need, and to Kayren and especially her husband Robert...and every person who sent their prayers up...this is what makes this SUCH a powerful place...lets keep the ripples going...one life touching another and then another...and then another...
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing gift. And it just goes to show what a wonderful medium blogging is. I for one am always amazed at the things that arise from one post. Thanks for sharing this Maria. K xx
ReplyDeleteWishing Heather and her donor Robert the very best! What an amazing story and gift. Thanks for bringing this story to us Maria. ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteMaria Love I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes THANKING the powers that be for the GEROUSITY of this wonderful man Robert & the courage of Heather & her family....THANK YOU for sharing this WONDERFUL & UPLIFTING story....!!
ReplyDeleteCheers from Australia,
Tamarah :o)
What a beautiful story and with a happy ending. The power of blogging will never cease to amaze me. Maybe when it's done for the good, it's another way that God can answer prayers, yes? Blessings to Heather and her family. And bless you for passing the story on.
ReplyDeleteSuch a heartwarming, selfless story... love and prayers being sent their way!
